Pegasus Mākete

Since its purchase in 2021, Tony’s role was to develop and coordinate the project team, working closely with specialist consultants and the legal team to prepare reports, e.g., transport, concepts, master planning, design guidelines for the submission for the Special Purpose Zone. The district plan hearing was held in June 2024. A positive decision will allow the design to progress.

The vision for Pegasus Mākete is to make this the major attraction between Christchurch and Kaikoura. This will encourage visitors to Pegasus, Pegasus Resort, including Pegasus Golf Course and the proposed Pegasus Hot Pools Spa and Village.

An Urban Design Assessment was undertaken as part of the District Plan Review (DPR) process. The purpose for the DPR is to absorb the existing “stranded” zone into the Special Purpose Zone proposed for Pegasus Golf Resort and to provide an Outline Development Plan, indicative masterplan, Design Guidelines and a suite of Planning rules that ensure that the development is integrated with the proposed Pegasus Resort Zone and is complimentary to the surrounding land uses and activities. This will ensure the development within the Pegasus Mākete is of a high quality, delivers good urban design outcomes that reflect the Pegasus Mākete style, materiality and colour palette.

The proposed elements and overarching objectives of the Tourist and Visitor experience are:

  • Local Market Wine Tasting and Artisan Food
  • Agricultural Heritage
  • Mahinga Kai
  • Art and Craft
  • Education
  • Family Entertainment
  • Relaxation Zone
  • Workshops and Events
